Leave Route #1 at Whitling Maine and take Route 189 to Lubec. Cross over the Roosevelt Memorial Bridge to Campobello Island, N. B. and from there take the car ferry to Deer Island. This privately owned car ferry operates from late June to early Sept.

Free Government Ferry : Leave Route #1 at St. George, N. B. (about mid-way between Saint John, and St. Stephen) and take Route 172 to L'Etete, N. B.
